TESA was written using Java, so will work on every operating system. Nothing has been hardcoded in a way where it will not work on Linux or Macs (although at this stage it remains untested on these platforms). You must have Java 1.5 installed for TESA to work. As of 1.2b, TESA comes as both a windows installer (.exe) file and as a zip file. For the zip file, simply extract wherever you wish to install TESA. For the installer, just double click and follow the prompts. The installer gives you the option of start menu shortcuts, as well as an automated uninstaller. To run TESA if you didn't use the windows installer, simply double click the tesa.bat file in the tesa directory.(for Windows) or run the following command in the tesa directory at the command line:

java -jar tesa.jar

NB: Strategy files saved with an older version of TESA may fail to work in newer versions since they make use of Java's serialization capability.

Map files and extra game environments will be released periodically through Sourceforge (link as above). The default install (1.2b onwards) includes 16 player and 32 player Battlefield 2 maps and 16 player Special Forces maps. Currently only the maps for the 16 player infantry only BF2 maps are available as a map pack. To install, just extract the zip file in the tesa/games folder. If you would like your maps to be included, let me know through the forums.
